Corporate Killing

Every chief executive should be extremely concerned about the proposed offences of corporate killing, reckless killing and killing by gross carelessness. Directors with responsibility for safety will bear criminal liability in a way that does not exist at present. But how will organisations allocate responsibility when the new laws take effect? Some people have said the laws will create scapegoats for health and safety failings within organisations. They may even deter people from taking jobs that carry heavy responsibility, with the prospect of a possible jail sentence and disqualification from holding a position as a company director. We examines the issues from various perspectives in our latest article, Corporate Killing.
